2011 - Vertual wins joint first in the Dirk Bartz prize for visual computing in medicine.

James Ward at Eurographics AwardsIn March 2011 Vertual Ltd was honoured for its work with virtual environments through a prize from Eurographics – the European Association for Computer Graphics.

The association organises a biannual competition to acknowledge the contribution that computer graphics is making in the medical field, and to encourage further development. Vertual has been awarded joint first prize for their work ‘A Virtual Environment for Radiotherapy Training and Education – VERT’.

The team responsible for the award, James Ward, Professor Roger Phillips, Annette Boejen, Cai Grau, Deepak Jois and Professor Andy Beavis, are delighted with the result.

To be awarded joint first prize in the Dirk Bartz Prize for Visual Computing in Medicine is a fantastic achievement. It showcases our work within the graphics community and provides further evidence of the importance of computer graphics in medical training and simulation’ said James Ward.


2011 - Community College Denver wins an Outstanding program award from the Colorado Community College System Board

PhyllisIn March 2011 Phyllis DeBaun, program director for the Denver community college radiation therapy program was awarded an outstanding program award.


"Thanks to all of you at Vertual for helping me help students deliver the absolute best possible patient care! Without their training on VERT they wouldn’t be where they are today in their training!!!" said Phyllis DeBaun who was delighted to receive the award.




September 2009 - Prestigious IPEM Manufacturers Award goes to Vertual's Co-founder, Professor Andy Beavis.


Andy Beavis at MPEC AwardsOur Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer, Andy Beavis, scoops a prestigious national award in recognition of his work on the VERT project. On being presented with the Insitute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine's (IPEM) Manufacturers Award Andy said: "I am very proud that my professional body has recognised the impact that VERT has had on changing the way in which therapy radiographers are now trained in England".

The three Founders of Vertual Ltd started work on VERT as a collaborative research project in 2002 involving the University of Hull and the Princess Royal Hospital of the Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust. The Founders created Vertual Ltd in 2007.


2008 - Yorkshire and Humber Regional Awards

Vertual was a regional finalist in the Health and Social Care Awards for the Innovative Health and Social Care technology award.


2008 - Vertual wins the Medilink (Yorkshire and Humber) Ltd Healthcare business award for Innovation

December 2007 - Computer Oscar Success

The three Founders of Vertual win the most prestigious Project Excellence award "BT Flagship Award for Innovation" for their project at the 2007 BCS IT Industry Awards. The Founders were also runners up for the Social Contribution Project Excellence Award for their VERT project.

2006 - Vertual wins first prize in the Medipex Innovations competition.

 Vertual have been awarded first prize in the Medipex Yorkshire and Humber NHS Innovations Competition for Innovative Device or Technology.
